City centre to University of Bath: Beckford Road and North Road

Detailed plans: for bus users

Bus stop design changes

Our proposals include redesigning the eastbound bus stop on Beckford Road. The new cycle lane will run next to the kerb and the bus stop will be set into the roadway. This means that you will need to cross the cycle lane when you get onto or off a bus, but you will have priority over cyclists. To ensure they slow down and look out for bus users, there will be a ramp when approaching a bus stop and textured paving. The cycle lane surface will rise to match the pavement at bus stops, so that access to buses shouldn't cause additional problems for wheelchair users or buggies.

Quieter roads

We are planning to restrict access to through-traffic on North Road, with the use of a camera-monitored bus gate.
