What the permit allows
This permit allows residents to park in permit bays on the street for unlimited periods. We will manage the permit application, administration and parking enforcement processes digitally, so there will be no paper permit to display inside the vehicle.
Who the permit is for
Residents who regularly spend four or more nights per week at a residential premises within the zone will be able to apply. We will use Council Tax records to prove residency, and the vehicle the permit is for will need to registered with the DVLA at that address.
Limits and conditions
The available safe parking space on local roads allows for a maximum of two Residents' Parking Permits per household. Where properties have off-street space which could be used for parking (which means any vehicle accessible space at least 2.5 x 5m in size), this will affect the number of permits which are available, as follows:

Permits are valid for only one vehicle at a time. Residents can change the assigned vehicle at any time, as long as it is registered with the DVLA at the address used for the permit. Only the following types of vehicles will be eligible for a permit:
- Classed as a passenger vehicle, a car-derived van or have a PLG (private light goods vehicle) taxation class
- Under 2 tonnes (unloaded weight)
- Less than 6 metres in length
- With no more than 12 seats
A residents' parking permit does not guarantee a parking space on the street. The cost of the permit is fee for membership of the scheme, not a payment for parking. Having a residents' parking permit doesn't allow you to park illegally, for example on yellow lines.

We are currently reviewing permit fees, which in future may be charged in relation to a vehicle’s emissions. If new fees are introduced we will include this information in any future consultations.

Who the permit is for
Visitors to anyone who lives in the Residents' Parking Zone. The visitor will need to have a visitor permit, even if the person they are visiting does not have a vehicle or resident's parking permit.
Limits and conditions
A visitor parking permit does not guarantee a parking space on the street. Having a visitor parking permit doesn't allow you to park illegally, for example on yellow lines.

Residents will need to manage their visitor permits online through MiPermit.
To allocate a permit
Online
Follow the on-screen prompts to enter the vehicle registration and select the parking duration.
By text
Send a text to 60300 from the mobile number linked to the permit account, with the word VISITOR, the vehicle registration number, and the parking duration in hours. For example: VISITOR A123BCD 4hours
By phone
Call 0333 123 8008 (8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday) and one of our team can set up the permit.
Charges
The current charges are £10 for 100 hours of visitor parking. The maximum annual allowance for visitor parking is 1000 hours per year, per property.
What the permit allows
This permit allows parking in permit bays on the street for visitors to a business, or vehicles owned or operated by that business. We will manage the permit application, administration and parking enforcement processes digitally, so there will be no paper permit to display inside the vehicle. Business permit parking is time limited, unlike residents' permit parking.
Who the permit is for
Visitors visiting the place of work
Any visitor using a passenger vehicle, car-derived van, or goods vehicle can use a space covered by a business permit. This permit does not require a registration number.
Vehicles owned or operated by the business
Daily on-street parking is allowed for vehicles that is used in conjunction with a business or school. This permit is registration-number-specific, and can be used for a passenger vehicle, car-derived van, or goods vehicle registered to the business or school for insurance purposes. It cannot be shared by multiple vehicles.
Limits and conditions
A business permit cannot be used to provide staff parking.
A maximum of two permits, in any combination of the above variations, may be issued where no off-street parking facilities are available.
A business parking permit does not guarantee a parking space on the street. Having a business parking permit doesn't allow you to park illegally, for example on yellow lines.
How to apply
Businesses will need to complete an application form, and provide copies of the following:
- the most recent Business Rates bill
- the vehicle registration document naming the business or school as the registered keeper of the vehicle (when applying for a vehicle-specific permit)
Once businesses have registered their account, they can manage the account online through MiPermit.
