The role of the Virtual School

We ensure that every looked-after child has a Personal Education Plan (PEP), and provide additional training and support to schools and foster carers.

We publish a detailed training offer each term. We send this directly to schools, but you can also access this on our training resources page


We also hold all of the pupil premium funding for looked-after children. The Virtual School Head decides how to use this funding to improve education outcomes.

Pupil Premium funding is accessed via the PEP process. Designated teachers should be aware of how to claim this funding.

Supporting previously looked-after children
