Virtual School training sessions

We provide free training to any Bath and North East Somerset school, college or early years setting who support children that have experienced trauma.

Training is also free for any school outside of the authority who supports one of our looked-after children.

Academic Year: 2023 to 2024

All of our training will be virtual.

Details for signing into the training session will be sent a week before the training date.

Designated teacher training

New Designated teacher training 28 September 2023. 3.30pm to 4.30pm Statutory responsibilities of the role. What is a PEP? How does the B&NES PEP system work? A guide to pupil premium. How to claim pupil premium. Previously looked after children. Additional training and support.
Attachment in the classroom 20 November 2023, 3.30pm to 4.30pm What is attachment? How does it impact on young people? How can we support in the classroom and through our wider role as designated teacher?

The role of the designated teacher for Post 16 colleges

An introduction to the role of the designated teacher Post 16 and PEP information.

How to complete a PEP and examples of interventions that work.

Governor training 

Training to describe the statutory requirements for the school governing body for both looked-after and previously looked-after children.

Sarah can either deliver this training or provide materials for the designated teacher to deliver this to their governing bodies.

Teaching assistant (TA) primary cluster group

An opportunity for any TA working in a primary setting who supports any child who has experienced trauma to train with other TAs.

This is a supportive environment to discuss the successes and challenges of working with our most vulnerable children.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) training

Attachment and Trauma awareness training: Supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental health Needs in Early Years.
