A 'previously looked-after child' refers to children who were previously in care in England and Wales, but who left care through:
- an adoption order
- a special guardianship order
- a child arrangements order
- adoption from ‘state care’ outside England and Wales
Child arrangements orders were formerly known as residence orders. The orders must still be current.
