Odd Down Sports Ground development consultation

What this scheme means for you

Use this page to find out how the proposed development project at Odd Down Sports Ground will affect you.

Cyclists

The existing 1.5km cycling track would be unaffected by the development.

Whilst travelling to the site by bicycle is encouraged, additional parking spaces on the site would aid cyclists who are travelling to use the track by car when the site has an event/ during peak times.

The movement of the reception to the front of the building will make the customer journey easier for visitors to pay for their session if they have not booked in advance.

The addition of gym equipment, such as static exercise bikes, may also be of interest to cyclists to supplement their training when the track is unavailable.

Local residents

We are aware of concerns from local residents of existing parking for the site overflowing into nearby streets during large events.

We have addressed this in our development plan by adding additional parking spaces and identifying possible areas for overflow parking.

We will conduct all the necessary transport, ecology, equality and environmental reports as part of the planning process. We will prepare a full traffic assessment and travel plan before finalising the development plan.

Sports clubs

The facility will remain largely operational during the development. Whilst areas of the site may be closed off at different stages, existing sports clubs that use the centre will still be able to use and access the site for training and competitions.

The addition of gym equipment at the site, including an external gym area, may be of interest to clubs that are looking to add to their existing training programmes.

GLL Members

GLL members generally have two types of membership; a site-specific membership or a partnership-wide membership allowing access to all the centres in the local area (although a UK membership is also available).

Customers with partnership-wide memberships will be able to use some of the new facilities at Odd Down Sports Ground as part of their membership.

There will also be a new membership option for those looking to only use some of the facilities at Odd Down.
