Policy background

9.489 There is historically a low level of mineral activity within Bath and North East Somerset and this situation is unlikely to significantly change during the Plan period. A policy framework is therefore in place against which all minerals developments will be determined, and to ensure full consideration is given to minerals related planning applications.

Policy options for the new Local Plan

9.490 It is proposed to retain the existing policy, with minor amendments to clarify expectations from developers with regard to proposals.

9.491 The proposed approach is as follows:

Option A

Retain policy text with minor amendments to demonstrate a more prescriptive and ambitious approach that provides clarity on the expectations of B&NES in terms of applications made under this policy.

Advantages of Option A

This provides greater certainty on what evidence developers are expected to submit with planning applications.

Disadvantages of Option A

None identified.
