Housing support for vulnerable people

If you are homeless or finding it difficult to cope with living at home, our Housing Support Gateway allows you to apply for support services.

Depending on your needs, the service will help you to find floating support to help you live independently in your own home, or help you to find supported housing.

You can use the service if you meet the following criteria:

  • You live in Bath and North East Somerset, you come from the area or have family here
  • You are aged 16 or over

Priority will be given to vulnerable people and those in crisis.

Help you can get

Depending on your needs, the help you receive could include:

  • Setting up and keeping a home and/or tenancy
  • Managing finances, debt advice and applying for benefits
  • Gaining access to other services
  • Establishing social contacts and activities
  • Supervising and monitoring of health, wellbeing and medication
  • Practical support and advice about managing a home, including repairs, adaptions and improvements

Most support services are for up to 2 years and are free. If you need support for longer, it may be possible to arrange this with your provider.

Apply for support

To apply for support, you will need to complete the online self-assessment form on our Housing Support Gateway.

Your application must include the following details:

  • Your name
  • A contact phone number
  • A contact email address

Completing the form should take no more than 5 minutes of your time.

Use our housing support gateway

If you need help completing the form, you can visit one of our information and services in Bath, Keynsham or Midsomer Norton.

Next steps

Once you have completed your online application, a support service will contact you to organise a full individual needs and risk assessment.

Services will aim to contact you within 4 to 6 weeks. However, these services are often very busy, so you may have to wait a bit longer.

If a service offers you support, you will work with your key worker who will help you to set and achieve your goals.
