B&NES Local Outbreak Management Plan for COVID-19

COVID-19 vaccination

Archive COVID-19 document

This document was published in July 2020, in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Data was correct at the time of publication, but regulations and advice in force, and services available, may have since changed.

In the event of a new outbreak of a variant of COVID-19 with a severe and widespread impact on public health and services, we would expect to update or replace the Plan.

COVID-19 vaccination had not yet been developed or rolled out when the LOMP was first published, in July 2020. Since this time, we have been an active partner in supporting vaccination hubs and promoting take-up of vaccination, as it has become available.

Steps we have taken

  • Providing volunteer and council support to vaccination hubs

  • Working to maximise vaccine take-up in eligible staff groups

  • Publicising the vaccine programme through clear messaging, working with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to maximise uptake amongst vulnerable, marginalised and harder-to-reach groups

What’s next?

  • Continuing to play our part in the vaccine programme: using emerging data as it becomes avaiable, to maximise uptake of eligible groups

  • Ensuring there are “roving” models of vaccination to cover all vulnerable, marginalised and hard-to-reach groups

  • Continuing to engage with the CCG in the development of communication approaches, particularly focusing on groups which may be likely to have lower uptake
