Staddlestones Park improvement consultation

We would like your feedback on our draft designs for improvements to Staddlestones Park. We want to improve the park in a way that benefits those that use the park most often, so your opinion is very important to the progression of the project.

If you are a local resident, you currently use Staddlestones Park, or you would potentially use the park, we would love your feedback on our draft designs.

Project overview

We want to improve Staddlestones Park for residents. In May of this year we held discussions with our project partners and Somer Valley Steering Group members on how the park could be improved. We have since worked with a landscape architect to create a draft site masterplan based on the improvements that were identified and that aligned with the Somer Valley Rediscovered objectives.

Somer Valley Rediscovered is a project that aims to improve biodiversity in the Somer Valley. It also aims to improve local health and wellbeing by improving the links between residents and green space.

The purpose of this consultation is to engage with the local community on the development and longer term management of Staddlestones Park. We hope that any future improvements will increase biodiversity and create a pleasant, welcoming space for everyone to use for their physical and mental wellbeing.

Our ideas for improvements to Staddlestones Park include:

  • improved entrances and paths
  • tree planting
  • meadow creation
  • additional seating

For a detailed description of our ideas for improvement, please view the draft masterplan.

How it will affect you

We hope that the proposed improvements to Staddlestones Park will:

  • increase biodiversity in the local area
  • improve accessibility for visitors
  • increase community engagement with nature
  • improve the health and wellbeing of local communities

We do not anticipate any prolonged periods of disruption or noise during the improvement works.

WarningPlease note that the field next to Staddlestones Park is privately owned land and is not included in the plans for improvement.
