Relationships

Use this page to learn how to have and maintain reliable relationships as a care-experienced young person.

Having reliable relationships and having connections to communities that matter are important.

Everybody needs to be able to turn to someone for help and support, as well as feel able to reach out to people. We will always support you with this.

Family and friends

Seeing your family, friends, and important people is a priority and we will talk to you about how you want to connect with them. We can support some transport costs to see those who are important to you. You can discuss this with your Personal Advisor.

Lifelong Links

Lifelong Links is a service which aims to ensure that you have a positive support network around you, so you feel connected to people that matter to you, moving into and during adulthood. You can discuss this with your personal advisor.

Family group conference

A Family Group Conference is a family and friends’ network-led meeting in which the family and friends come together to think about how everybody can support you. The process is supported by an independent coordinator who helps you and the family/friends prepare for the Family Group Conference and chairs the meeting.

Life story

It is important to feel informed about your own story. Support is available to help you understand your childhood and the decisions made about you and your journey through care. You can discuss this with your Personal Advisor.
