Published: 2020-02-21 Updated: 2020-10-26 Subject: Planning checklist

Planning application - local requirement

When this requirement applies

A ventilation and extraction statement will be necessary for all applications for developments with an installation of extraction or air conditioning equipment, for example developments for new/change of use to A3 use. Alterations to existing dwellings and proposals for new dwellings do not require a ventilation and extraction statement.

What the statement should include

The statement should include all of the following:

  • Details of the position and design of ventilation and extraction equipment
  • Technical specifications, including noise generated and mitigation
  • Odour abatement techniques (for example, when extracting cooking fumes)
  • Elevation drawings which show the size, location, and external appearance of plant and equipment
