Core Strategy and Placemaking Plan

Published: 2020-01-23 Updated: 2020-07-01 Subject: Planning

Core Planning Document and evidence base

'Placemaking' is a planning and economic development strategy which places the community's public amenities, such as parks, streets and squares, at the centre of future development plans. It aims to work together with local people, to create public places which are good for people's health, happiness and well-being.

The Core Strategy and Placemaking Plan are the most important documents that put in place a strategic planning framework to guide development in our region until 2029. For ease of use, we have combined the Core Strategy (2014) and the Placemaking Plan (2017) into a single set of documents.

We will use these documents, as part of our local Development Plan, in the determination of planning applications.
