If, as a result of the assessment and eligibility process, a person is found to have unmet eligible needs for care and support that the council must meet, there is a statutory duty under section 18 or 20(1) of the Care Act (2014) to help the person decide how their needs will be met through the preparation of a care and support plan. This policy sets out the framework for care and support planning in Bath & North East Somerset and should be read in conjunction with the council’s Care and Support Assessment and Eligibility Policy and Carers Guidance.
