Notice of Election, UK Parliamentary Election Bath Constituency

  1. ELECTION
    An Election is to be held for a Member of Parliament to serve Bath Constituency.

  2. NOMINATION PAPERS
    Nomination papers can be obtained from the offices of the Acting Returning Officer, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW on Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

  3. DELIVERY OF THE NOMINATION PAPERS
    Nomination papers must be delivered to the offices of the Acting Returning Officer, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW on any working day after the date of this notice, from Monday 3 June 2024 to Friday 7 June 2024, between 10:00am and 4:00pm, but no later than 4:00pm on Friday 7 June 2024.

  4. CANDIDATE DEPOSIT
    For a candidate’s nomination to be valid, the sum of £500 must be deposited with the Acting Returning Officer. This can be paid by:

    • legal tender

    • banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as a banker in the United Kingdom

    • by bank transfer as a faster payment.

  5. DATE OF POLL
    If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.

  6. APPLICATIONS TO REGISTER TO VOTE, APPLICATIONS TO VOTE BY POST OR BY PROXY AND VOTER AUTHORITY CERTIFICATES

    If they are to be effective for this election:

    Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW by Tuesday 18 June 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

    New applications to vote by post, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW by 5:00pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote. Applications to amend or cancel existing postal or proxy voting arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. 

    New applications to vote by proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW by 5:00pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.

    Applications for a voter authority certificate or an anonymous elector’s document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW by 5:00pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications for a voter authority certificate can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.

    Applications to vote by emergency proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Thursday 4 July 2024.
