The Gilbert and Eileen Edgar Foundation

Generally small grants of £500 are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas in the areas of:

  • medical and surgical science
  • children and young people
  • older people
  • people in need
  • the arts
  • education
  • religion
  • leisure and recreation.

The Gilbert and Eileen Edgar Foundation, which will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025, has just two trustees, Simon and Edgar Gentilli.  Simon and Edgar are both also trustees of the Gilbert Edgar Trust, a similarly small grant-making charity, and the Gentilli Charitable Trust, which is listed on the Charity Commission website as supporting local charities in the Henley-on-Thames area, with a bias towards supporting young people and the elderly.  The Gentilli Charitable Trust makes very few awards.

The Trust generally tends to make awards to the same group of grantees.  When funds allow, the Trust will add new charities to its portfolio.

Please note that the Trust does not have a website.  Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.

To enquire about the prospect of being added to the Trust’s list of regular grantees, please write to the trustees as its principal office.
