A limited number of small and larger grants are available to registered charities working in the areas of the arts, education and the environment. The vast majority of grants made by the Trust are to arts charities.
The Michael Marks Charitable Trust is an established grant-making charity with its offices in London. Michael Marks was a Jewish refugee from Poland who established Marks & Spencer with Thomas Spence in 1894.
Unsolicited applications are considered.
This fund has an annual deadline of 31 May. Trustees meet in June or July to review the applications received. Successful applications receive a donation before the end of July. In order to keep costs down, the Trustees do not reply to unsuccessful applicants.
When applying, applicants should include:
- A page about their charity.
- Information about the project for which you are requesting support.
- A break-down of the costs involved, and
- A copy of their latest annual accounts.
Charities registered in England and Wales need not produce their annual accounts, but should ensure they include their banking details.
