Learn about the Vocational Hub

The Vocational Hub supports adults who have additional needs. Use this page to learn more about what the hub offers and the organisations they work with.

What we do

The Vocational Hub supports people with additional needs such as learning disabilities and Autism to access and maintain:

  • voluntary work
  • vocational day services
  • paid employment

We have a variety of job coaches, coordinators and support workers who bring skills and experience from various backgrounds to their role.

We work face to face with the people we support, helping them familiarise themselves with their roles, enabling them to become as independent as possible.

We work across Bath and North East Somerset, finding people sustainable roles within their community. We can also assist our service users to learn a commute and travel independently to their role.

How we support people

We have supported groups working on grounds and gardening projects (Rake Up & Grow) and community-based volunteering (Many Hands). We also have a programme running with Royal United Hospital Bath to support people into paid work (Step Into).

If you are an organisation wanting to get involved

We are constantly looking for new opportunities to expand the amount of placements we offer via the organisations we work with. Please contact us if you are an organisation interested in supporting opportunities.

You can contact us by emailing vocationalhub@bathnes.gov.uk, or calling 01225 831625.

Examples of the organisations we work with regularly include:

  • Royal United Hospital
  • Bath Rugby Foundation
  • Avon Valley Railway
  • Radstock Town Council
  • Bath Museums

Eligibility for our service

To be eligible for our service, a person must have eligible needs as assessed under the Care Act.

If you are unsure whether you, or the person you are referring, meet the criteria, please contact us before referral to discuss. All referrals must be made with the person's consent.

If the person in need of support is in paid work

In order to support a person who is in paid work, our service will need to claim Access to Work funding with that person. Our team will support the claim process.

For some programmes, a personal budget agreed through social care teams or self-funding may be required.
