We offer day activities for adults who have profound and complex needs through Carrswood and Connections day services. Use this page to learn more about each service, and how you can get involved.
Who can use our day services
Our buildings-based day services focus on providing opportunities for adults who have a learning disability, who have profound and complex levels of need as assessed under the Care Act 2014.
Funding is required for a person to access the service, which can either be through a personal budget agreed by the social care team, or a person can attend as a self-funder.
How we support users of our day services
People who use our services require a high level of support to learn new skills, gain confidence, and participate in activities. The support a person requires will typically involve other input from specialisms such as:
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Psychology
- Behavioural Nursing
- Occupational Therapy
We work with these specialist professionals to plan the support that we deliver, and ensure that our staff are trained correctly.
Where our day services are based
We offer two day services:
- Carrswood is based in Twerton, Bath
- Connections is based in Writhlington, Radstock
Both day services run Monday to Friday. Both day services offer transport options for people attending if they do not have an alternative method of travel.
What our day services offer
Day services run various groups and activities such as:
- cooking and baking
- art
- drama
- music
- physiotherapy (staff support with prescribed exercises)
- sensory spaces and stories
- walking groups
- interactive games
The services also offer a cooked lunch for those attending (there is a charge for this), as well as hot and cold drinks throughout the day. Staff can support with food and drinks as required.
