Learn about the Hearing and Vision team

The Hearing and Vision Team support people who have a sensory impairment.  Use this page to understand their responsibilities, how they can help, and how you can get in touch.

What the Hearing and Vision Team do

The Hearing & Vision Team predominantly provides Care and Support Needs Assessments under the Care Act.

They also conduct reviews and support planning for individuals who:

  • have a sensory impairment
  • have the appearance of care and support needs
  • are resident in Bath and North East Somerset

The Hearing and Vision Team also:

  • complete ongoing case management (including responding to urgent support needs as and when a person’s situation or needs change)
  • conduct Annual Reviews for those open to the team
  • undertake relevant Mental Capacity Act assessments and 'best interest' decision making
  • offer advice or support for visually impaired adults from a Rehabilitation Officer for Visually Impaired (ROVI)
  • offer registration for Hearing and/or Visual Impairment on the Council register

Team structure and funding

The team comprises of a Senior Practitioner and Social Workers. The support they offer is funded by Bath and North East Somerset Council.
