What happens next

The timeline below shows the cycle for adoption of the plan.

It includes the current (active) stage, those already completed, as well as expected future stages.

  1. Public consultation

    Active July to Aug 2024

This consultation gives you an opportunity to have your say on the Neighbourhood Plan for High Littleton and Hallatrow. The local planning authority (LPA) publicises the plan for at least six weeks, inviting feedback from the public and relevant stakeholders.

  2. Independent Examination

    On target September 2024

Independent examination of the Neighbourhood Plan for High Littleton and Hallatrow. The examiner reviews the plan to ensure it meets the necessary conditions and legal requirements. They can recommend that the plan moves to a referendum, suggest changes, or advise that it is not suitable.

  3. Modifications (if required)

    On target October 2024

Any modifications to the plan as required by the Examiner. The examiner’s report will outline the necessary changes, and the LPA will decide how to proceed based on these recommendations.

  4. Decision

    On target November 2024

The decision made by the LPA. They will issue a decision statement explaining whether the plan will go to a referendum and detailing any required changes.

  5. Referendum

    On target January 2025

A referendum to be held on the finalised plan in High Littleton and Hallatrow. Residents will vote on whether they support the plan. A simple majority of over 50% of those voting is required for the plan to proceed.

  6. Adoption

    On target January 2025

Formal adoption of the plan. If the referendum results in a majority 'yes' vote, the LPA must adopt the neighbourhood plan within eight weeks. The plan then becomes part of the statutory development plan for the area and is used in making planning decisions.
