COVID-19 Advice and Guidance Privacy Notice

The purpose of processing

We will record the details that you provide to us to support you in responding to COVID-19 by contacting you with follow up advice and guidance when necessary.

Data subjects

When you contact us by telephone or via the web form you will be the data subjects. This covers everyone who may contact us including members of the public, employees, residents, care providers and parents and guardians.

How is it used?

We will keep the information that you provide on council computers in files only accessible by the Public Health team. The team will then make a follow up call or email and send it to you. In some cases, they will refer you to another council service, but we will not share the information unless you specifically request for us to do so.

We may use the location data that you provide to plot COVID-19 hotspots within Bath and North East Somerset, but this will not constitute personal data.

The legal basis for processing your data is Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR in relation to our responsibilities in preventing the spread of infectious disease.

Sharing of personal data with external recipients

We will not share your personal data with any other organisation, though we may provide it to other relevant areas of the council who will be able to support you, or deal with any specific needs that you may have.

How long is the personal data retained by the Council?

We will retain your data for up to 2 years after which it may be anonymised in such a way that you are no longer identifiable. The remaining information may be used for research and statistical purposes.
