We have a limited number of moorings in Bath and North East Somerset. A small number of moorings are owned by the council, but the majority are owned and managed by the Canal & River Trust.

Moorings are currently available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mooring updates

Widcombe Lock to Pulteney Weir - Closed

Visitor moorings on the River Avon between Widcombe Lock and Pulteney Weir below Pulteney Bridge are now permanently closed due to safety concerns during flood events. Anyone who continues to choose to moor there is not authorised to do so, and moors at their own risk.

Mead Lane Moorings, Saltford

In October 2020, Cabinet resolved to close the moorings at Mead Lane subject to a suitable alternative being found. The WaterSpace team have been working with the Canal & River Trust to identify alternative land for boats to moor temporarily when travelling along this stretch of the river.

The moorings at Mead Land will remain open until a new location has been announced.

Boats that moor at Mead Lane are requested to:

  • only moor in the designated mooring zone
  • ensure no nuisance is caused
  • dispose of waste and sewage at the designated places
  • comply with the terms of their license
WarningPlease be aware that there is a sunken boat along Mead Lane which may cause a hazard when mooring.
