Apply to live in supported lodgings

If you are aged between 16 and 25, you are leaving care or are homeless, supported lodgings may be right for you.

Benefits of living in supported lodgings

There are many benefits of living in supported lodgings, for example you:

  • can get help with practical things like shopping, budgeting and cooking
  • will be able to talk to your lodgings provider, about day to day things or something more important
  • will get help from a social worker or support worker who will help with practical issues outside the home
  • will develop your skills gradually, in a safe environment, until you are ready to live independently

What is expected of you

While in supported lodgings, it is expected that you:

  • must be in education, employment or training
  • will make a contribution of £15 per week towards the cost of food, gas and electric from the money you receive from benefits, work or the social care team
  • may also wish to save £10 per week towards your moving on costs and for your future. You will pay this yourself from your income
  • will be given support to complete Skills for Life training which will help you develop essential skills
