Accessible Parking

We offer a range of accessible parking options in Bath and North East Somerset, however they do require you to have a Blue Badge.

Blue Badges help people with disabilities or health conditions to park closer to their destination so they can access goods and services. You can apply for a badge for yourself, on behalf of somebody else or an organisation that transports people that need a Blue Badge.

Find out more about Blue Badges and apply online on our web page.

Expand the sections below to find out more about our accessible parking options.

Advisory Disabled Parking Bays

If you have a Blue Badge, we may be able to install an Advisory Disabled Parking Bay near to your home to help you park closer.

Advisory bays are not enforceable and rely on the goodwill of drivers when parking to leave the bay free for those who live nearby with blue badges.

Find out more about Advisory Disabled Parking bays and apply online on our web page.

Parking in council car parks for Blue Badge holders

We provide disabled parking bays in our car parks for use by Blue Badge holders who display a valid Blue Badge. Charges may apply so please check the tariff boards or view our car park information on our website, which includes the number of disabled bays for each car park.

These bays are enforceable, and Penalty Charge Notices may be issued to vehicles parked in contravention.

Parking ‘on street’ for Blue Badge holders

You can park for free on street with no time limit* when you display a valid Blue Badge in:

  • on street Pay and Display bays
  • resident parking zones
  • advisory disabled parking bays
  • on street disabled parking bays (* check the sign as some bays are time limited and you need to display your badge and time clock, set to time of arrival)
  • disabled parking bays located at the Charlotte Street car park outer entrance area only (charges apply in the main Charlotte Street car park area)

You can park on single and double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, except where a ban on loading or unloading is in force, as indicated by yellow kerb dashes and / or signs on plates. You must display a valid blue badge and your blue badge time clock set at the time of your arrival.

Parking at Bath Park & Ride sites for Blue Badge holders

Access to restricted streets in Bath city centre

Vehicles are permanently restricted in some streets in central Bath as part of the Bath City Centre Security scheme. These vehicle restrictions are to protect the city's most crowded spaces from the risk of vehicle-based terrorist attack. You can find out more information and if you are exempt from these restrictions, if you need to apply for special permission to use these roads, and how to make an application on our web page.
