Responding to the Climate Emergency

We have put many plans into action to achieve our target of responding to the Climate and Ecological Emergencies, but there are ways you can help too. It is vital that we all work together to protect our environment.

In response to the Climate and Ecological Emergencies, we aim to provide the leadership to enable the Bath and North East Somerset area to be carbon neutral by 2030. We are also prioritising the protection and enhancement of our natural environment and wildlife biodiversity.

We have put many plans into action to achieve our target of becoming carbon neutral already, but there are ways you can help too. It is vital that we all work together to protect our environment.

What is the Climate Emergency?

We declared a Climate Emergency in March 2019. A Climate Emergency is defined as, “A situation in which urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change and avoid potentially irreversible environmental damage resulting from it." We also declared an Ecological Emergency in July 2020.
