Register for a business grant due to COVID-19

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Government announced there would be support for small businesses and businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. This support will take the form of two grant funding schemes, the Small Business Grant Fund and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant.

Register for the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant

You could receive a cash grant of up to £25,000 per property if you are eligible. Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000, may be eligible for a grant of £25,000.

Businesses which are not eligible for this grant are those which have a rateable value of £51,000 or over.

Eligibility 

You could be eligible if all of the following applies:

  • Your business is based in England
  • Your business was occupied and registered as a rate-paying business on
    11 March 2020
  • Your business is in the retail, hospitality and/or leisure sector
Properties that will benefit from the relief
These will be occupied properties that are wholly or mainly being used as any of the following:

 

  • shops, restaurants, cafes, drinking establishments, cinemas and live music venues
  • employment agencies, hair and beauty, travel agents, dry cleaners, tool hire, car hire, laundrettes, photo processing, shoe repairs, ticket offices, PC/domestic appliance repair, travel agents and funeral directors
  • for assembly and leisure (including wellness centres, spas, massage parlours, public halls, bingo halls, clubs and institutions, nightclubs, theatres, gyms, tourist attractions, museums, sports grounds/clubs and leisure facilities)
  • hotels, guest and boarding premises and self-catering accommodation

Before you register

Before you register you will need the following:

  • your Business Rates account number. This is eight digits long and can be found on the top right hand corner of your Business Rates bill. If you are unsure, please view this example bill.
  • your VAT number (if applicable)
  • your Company Number (if registered with Companies House)
  • a copy of your passport OR a copy of your driving licence
  • a recent bank statement, dated in the last three months, corresponding to the grant payment details you have provided.

Register for the Small Business Grant Fund

This is a one-off grant of £10,000 for eligible businesses to help meet their ongoing business costs because of the disruption from the Coronavirus.

Eligibility 

You could be eligible if all of the following applies:

  • Your business is based in England
  • You're in receipt of small business rate relief or rural rate relief as of 11 March 2020
  • You're a business that occupies property in Bath & North East Somerset as of
    11 March 2020

Before you register

Before you register you will need the following:

  • your VAT number (if applicable)
  • your Company Number (if registered with Companies House)
