Ensuring modern, easily-accessible waste and recycling centres for residents is important for tackling the Climate Emergency, and to improve on existing high levels of recycling performance.
The Waste Infrastructure Modernisation programme delivers long-overdue investment in our operational and public waste infrastructure, which is now beyond its originally planned lifetime. Council made provisional capital budget allocation to this programme in February 2022. (The relevant text is section 1.3 in the link)
The Midland Road recycling centre in Bath will remain open until an alternative like-for-like Bath site is in place. When the Midland Road site is vacated, it will be released to build new homes supported by Homes England grant funding.
As part of Bath’s recycling provision, we will develop plans for additional neighbourhood recycling bring sites at locations within the city, and carry out feasibility work to recycle flexible soft plastics.
