We first launched the Community Contribution Fund in March 2021 as a pilot scheme, offering residents the chance to pay into a good causes fund to help local charity, community, and voluntary groups to reduce inequalities in the area. To date, almost £40,000 has been raised and over £30,000 given in the form of grants to voluntary and community groups to support local projects.
In 2021-22 we awarded grants up to £2,000 for projects that support the most vulnerable in our communities. We supported fifteen projects through the fund.
In 2022-23, we used the fund to provide grants of £250 to Warm Spaces that had registered with us and signed up to our Warm Spaces Charter. Twenty-four Warm Spaces took up the grant.
For the 2023-24 financial year, we will use the fund to provide grants of £500 to organisations that are supporting residents with the ongoing cost of living crisis, including Warm Spaces. Applications are open now until 16 February 2024.
All applications to the Community Contribution Fund grant schemes are agreed by a panel of Councillors. You can see full details of successful applicants to the scheme below.
Make a contribution
Any contribution is separate from your Council Tax, and you can contribute more than once. The minimum contribution is £5, and there is no maximum.
The scheme is administered by us, but is not used to supplement council services. Every penny contributed goes to fund local projects.
You won't be able to request a particular project or area where your money is spent, and the fund will be used for good causes across the district.
